Our first public “sneak peak” worship gathering at Warner Pacific University was powerful. We are excited to see people find a safe place to belong. We were never meant to do life alone. God is bringing a community together and inspiring us to the adventure, JOY, and abundance that He has for us. This is a great time to get connected! If you live in Portland, Oregon, or if you have family in the Portland area, know that you are invited. Our Mission Church Portland grand opening is at Warner Pacific University! —Sunday, September 30th, 2018 // 10:30am // 2219 SE 68th Ave., Portland, OR 97215 // McGuire Auditorium
It’s not just a saying. We mean it. You matter to us. We’re out Paying It Forward in SE Portland. We reverse panhandled coffee cards (FREE COFFEE). We gave away KIND bars on the train. We served free lemonade at the Stark Street Fair.
You never know when a random act of kindness could put “that look” on someone’s face, and you know it just changed their whole day!
We had an incredible turn-out for our s'more bar in Mt. Scott Park. I mean how could we not enjoy ourselves when we had marshmallows. Marshmallows are a sugar-based confectionery that in its modern form typically consists of sugar, water and gelatin whipped to a squishy consistency, molded into small cylindrical pieces, and coated with corn starch. We will definitely be doing this event again! Lots of sugar, games, and great people made for a memorable time.
We are are so grateful to be launching Mission Church Portland on the beautiful campus of Warner Pacific University. I can’t think of a better way to kick off this incredible partnership than serving the faculty and students at welcome weekend. We are praying this is one of the best seasons ever for Warner Pacific!
Some of our middle school and high school students are right in the midst of a 30 hour famine. What’s the 30 Hour Famine? Take a youth group lock-in, thought-provoking Bible studies, games, inspirational videos, and more — and mash them all up into an unforgettable day-and-a-half of going without food to raise funds for the hungry.
We had an incredible time Paying It Forward at the Community Care Project at Woodmere Elementary school. Our Pay It Forward Portland team served alongside the principal, staff, parents & students of Woodmere Elementary. It was fun to see the kids having fun while serving their local school. We look forward to serving Woodmere Elementary School this year as we continue to Pay It Forward by working on projects and serving the teachers and staff.
We are so excited to join a team from Lake Pointe Church in Paying It Forward in Portland this week. We love uniting the community to find and fill the needs of our neighbors. We also love to surprise people with generosity. Why? People matter. We love people. We love our community. We want to share the love of God in a fun & practical way.
We wanted to do something fun to honor all the POPS at Mission Church. So, at each location of Mission Church we had all kinds of POPS items...pop tarts, pop rocks candy, Tootsie Pops, Popcorn, and more... Dads, thank you for your leadership. Thank you for taking it to the next level with Jesus Christ.
We had a great time hanging out at the Hofen's home for our bi-weekly gathering. We welcomed some new faces and participated in a powerful time of prayer. To top it off, we roasted marshmallows for s'mores.
We had an incredible time serving at the Portland Starlight Parade. The Starlight Parade continues a longtime festival tradition from the early 1900s, when illuminated floats built on electric trolley cars made their way through the city on trolley tracks. Today, participants light up the night with approximately 100 illuminated entries along a 2.25-mile route. The parade draws more than 325,000 spectators to downtown Portland, Oregon.
Our team served alongside the parade marshals to keep the parade route safe and flowing evenly. We also passed out sidewalk chalk for the kids before the parade started. It was a total blast! We love our community and want to serve because people matter.
Our first Portland flash mob was a huge success. We love coming together as a body to bless someone in a complete surprise without asking for anything in return. If you have never been a part of this awesome event, you simply show up at the designated place at the designated time with a few dollars to give to meet a need. You can also bring noisemakers! You rush in like a crazy mob, bless the family or individual with some money and disappear in a flash. The whole thing takes about 5 minutes but changes lives for a lifetime!
