Next Step Bible Study - Day One - YOU ARE SAVED

For one to be saved, it means that there must be something to be saved from. The truth about all humans is that God loves each one of us and that we were created in His image. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Not only are we created in God’s image but He loves every person. John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

However, there is a sin problem that separates every one of us. Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” and Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Everyone one of us has sinned and we are separated from God and deserve eternal separation. Because of God’s love, He has made a way for us. Hebrews 9:22 says, “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” and Romans 5:8 says that “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

This good news that takes away the penalty of our sin is “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” - Romans 10:9. The cleansing
power of salvation is also revealed in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” The key to salvation is confessing our sins and believing that Jesus Christ is our Savior. If we claim to be without sin, then we cannot be saved. The last aspect of being saved is that it is incredibly good news which needs to be shared. We should go and tell others about this life transforming Gospel and this will con rm in our hearts that we are indeed saved children of God.

Answer and Reflect:

  1. In your own words, what does it mean to be saved?

  2. What are some sins that you have confessed or need to confess to Jesus Christ?

  3. How is the Lord purifying you?

Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross or me. If I was the only one walking the face of the earth, you still would have come to earth and died on the cross for me. Thank you for demonstrating your love for me. I confess my sins to you. Thank you for purifying me and making me more like you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
