God Calls to Meet a Need

I love the story of Moses. God calls Moses to meet the needs of His people. Moses responds with doubt, questions and uncertainty. But he soon realizes that God's call has very little to do with his doubt. God's call is always related to the cry of His people (everyone that walks the face of the earth). God hears our cry and meets our need.

“The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.” Exodus 2:23-25

As long as there is darkness, as long as there are needs, as long as people are being oppressed, God will keep calling people to meet those needs, shine their light and set the captive free.

Four responses to God’s call [Exodus Chapters 3 & 4]:

Our first response when God calls: “Here I am.” (Exodus 3:4)

Our second response to God’s call: Humble ourselves. (Exodus 3:5)

Our third response to God’s call: Listen. (Exodus 3:6)

Our fourth response to God’s call: GO (Exodus 3:10)

What we can learn from Moses call:

Trust God’s promises!  He is faithful.  (Exodus 3:15)

The Lord gives clear direction. (Exodus 4:1-3)

The Lord does not like excuses. (Exodus 4:11-14)

We are called….

To walk with Christ

Ephesians 5:2

To be light in the darkness

Matthew 5:14

To be a friend to the hurting

Job 16:20

To bring compassion to the poor

Isaiah 25:4

To bring hope to the hopeless

Psalm 33:20

To love

1 Corinthians 13:7

We are called to leave a legacy!
